Maui - "no ka oi - The Best"
[ Kauai | Oahu | Molokai | Lanai | Maui | Hawaii ]
Overview
Maui (pronounced mau-ee) is the second largest island of the
chain and one of the most popular. Haleakala alone, the extraordinary
crater which dominates the island, makes the Valley Isle worth touring.
This island has many of Hawaii's prettiest beaches, stunning rain forests,
and an offshore breeding ground for rare humpback whales (late November
to early June).
"Maui no ka oi", as the local saying goes -- "Maui is the
best." Home to the finest resort hotels, chic restaurants,
and more attractions and tourist activities than any other
island (from
championship golf courses to a historic steam-engine railroad);
to many people, Maui is Hawaii.
