Molokai - "The Friendly Isle"
[ Kauai | Oahu | Molokai | Lanai | Maui | Hawaii ]
Overview
Molokai (pronounced moh-loh-kah-ee) is an extraordinary hideaway.
With its white sand and beaches, a mountainous interior, and a large
population of native Hawaiians, "The Friendly Isle" retains
a unique sense of old Hawaii. With a population of about 6,000
and an economy based almost solely on the land, Molokai has retained
much
of its seclusion and has protected its beaches, forested mountains,
and secluded valleys.
Molokai appeals to the visitor who enjoys adventuring at
a personal pace. Plenty of opportunities are available for
snorkeling, swimming,
hiking, and sunbathing, but fewer possabilities exist for organized
sports such as fishing, horseback riding, tennis, and golf.
The more creative you are, the more you will enjoy Molokai, for
it
does not
shout at you with things to do; rather, it whispers gently, "Come
play with me."
